PREP BOYS BASKETBALL: KITTITAS 66, WARDEN 60

KITTITAS - It could have been over early, but Warden's Cougars simply disagreed.

So, last night when Kittitas blew out to a 17-point second quarter lead in their Central Washington South 2B contest against the visiting Cougars, little did they know they would be in for a fight before the final buzzer sounded.

Warden's late first-half rally, led to a see-saw affair that would see their last second effort to win fall just short and Kittitas would hold on for a 66-60 win.

"They came out blazing and had that big lead early in the second quarter," Warden head coach Wes Richins said.

At 62-60 with about 20 seconds left, Warden (3-7, 1-2) attempted a game winning three-pointer which missed, and Kittitas would rebound and seal the victory at the foul line.

Kittitas (3-7, 2-1) hit their last eight free throws to hold on for the win.

Victor Flores scored 16 points, Marcelo Pruneda added 13 points, and Ty Jesse finished with a 10 points, five assists, and four steals.

"We battled and they could have buried us early," Richins said. "We showed a lot of poise coming back."
