Concepcion S. Lopez

Concepcion S. Lopez, 83, longtime resident of Moses Lake passed away Friday, Jan. 7, 2011 at Samaritan Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Holy Rosary was prayed at 6 p.m., Monday, Jan. 10, 2011 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 200 N. Dale Road, Moses Lake. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel & Crematory, Moses Lake. Concepcion Lopez (Conchita) was born in the state of Pennsylvania, but at very young age her parents moved back to Aguascalientes, Mexico where she was raised and educated until she moved back to Juarez, Mexico and then to Las Cruces, New Mexico. There she owned and operated a Mexican bakery and small restaurant until she to moved to El Paso Texas. In El Paso she owned and operated Restaurants for many years, until she moved to Moses Lake in 1967 where she worked in two different processing potato plants. She retired in 1993, at which time she devoted her time to her husband caring for her him. She traveled throughout the united stated, Mexico, and Europe. She became involved in the community particularly our Lady Of Fatima Catholic Church, volunteering at the Senior Citizens Center as a cook, First way as a guidance counselor for young pregnant women, Cancer Society, Sacred Heart Society helping with fundraising activities with the church, organizing posadas during the holidays. She was also a member of the St. Committee of Cursillitas for many years. She was often called to call cook for weddings, quienceneras, retirements, and funerals. One of her last activities was to organize last years' Thanksgiving dinner for the senior citizens of the community and the homeless family of the area. Conchita was preceded in death by her husband Ramon Lopez, Consuelo Luna, and Molly Lopez. She has 10 children, Fernando Luna and daughter-in-law Socorro Luna from El Paso, Texas, Gloria Lopez, Moses Lake, WA, Rosario Silva and son-in-law Saul Silva from Seattle, Wa, Ernesto Luna and daughter-in-law Maria Luna, Seattle, Wa, Rodolfo Luna and daughter-in-law, Pam Luna, Sacramento, Ca, Noemi Luna, Moses Lake, Wa, Elizabeth Martinez, son-in-law Luciano Martinez, Moses Lake, Wa, Ramon Lopez, daughter-in-law, Missy Lopez, from Moses Lake, Wa. She has seventeen grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Conchita raised a nephew Juan Alba since the age of 12 and opened her home to Margarita Ponce, and Leonardo Raigoza as young people for many years.
