Chiefs swimmers remain unbeaten in Big 9

EAST WENATCHEE - With the second half of the season set to commence the Moses Lake Chiefs boys swim and dive team has wrapped a strong start to their campaign.

On Saturday, Moses Lake came and left Eastmont High School with a 107-77 win to move to 4-0 in Big 9 competition to remain atop of the league with Richland.

"This was a team effort and Moses Lake's overall team depth was the difference in the meet's final scores," Moses Lake head coach Tony St. Onge said.

Moses Lake kicked off the dual with a strong 1-2 finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Kaelan Connacher, Evan McFarland, Parker Merkley, and Skyler Gallaway won as a the "A" team, while the "B" team of Nick Phillips, Brandon Emerson, Cody Wilson, and Damien Cacchiotti ended up second.

In the 200-yard freestyle, Chiefs took 1-2-3 behind Corey Bradshaw, Reid Jackson, and Daniel Noteboom respectively.

During the meet's third event, Connacher took second in the 200-yard individual medley, and in the next race, McFarland took first in the 50-yard freestyle.

Merkley took second in the 100-yard butterfly, and Noteboom captured the top spot in the 100-yard freestyle.

Bradshaw finished second in the 500-yard freestyle and following that up, the "A" 200-yard freestyle relay team of Connacher, Noteboom, Skyler Gallaway, and McFarland took second in the event.

Connacher would capture first in the 100-yard backstroke, and McFarland would also capture top honors in the 100-yard breaststroke.

The meet wrapped up with a second place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay, with Merkley, Jackson, Noteboom, and Bradshaw finishing just behind the host Wildcats.

"Every single one of our varsity swimmers made a district qualifying time at this meet," St. Onge said.
