Gary was born the second of six children in Yakima, WA on Sept. 5, 1947 to Elbridge M. (Bud) and Ethel (Carvo) Jones. The family was living in Outlook, WA and moved to Moses Lake in 1954. In 1957, they moved to Warden, WA where Gary finished his elementary education and graduated from Warden High School in 1966. He was involved in high school activities and sports, FFA, baseball, football and wrestling. In 1966 Gary married Patricia Read, settled in Spokane, WA, and started their family. They had three boys, Mickey Shawn (Tana), Michael Shane (Melissa) and Matthew Shannon (Amber). Several years later, they moved to Troy, MT and Gary worked in the lumber mills. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing and passed on this love of Montana and the outdoors to his sons. Gary moved back to Moses Lake where he lived with a prolonged illness until his death. Gary has twelve grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gary's parents preceded him in death. He is survived by two sisters and three brothers, Sharma (Lew) McCullough, Ron (Cindy) Jones, Myrna (Mark) Tucker, Neil (Patricia) Jones and Casey (Charlotte) Jones. In lieu of local services, Gary's sons and family will hold a memorial for him this Spring after the snow melts at his favorite fishing hole in Montana.
