Chiefs invitational precedes Japanese wrestlers visit

MOSES LAKE - After plenty of time on the road, the Moses Lake High School Chiefs wrestlers return home tomorrow to host their own Invitational.

The action starts at 10 a.m. with three dual meets on three mats in Chief Gym.

Moses Lake will battle South Kitsap, while Mead goes up against Rogers (Puyallup), and Auburn battles Lake Stevens.

At noon, the Chiefs and Auburn will tangle, Lake Stevens goes at it with Mead, and Rogers and South Kitsap will round out the slate.

The final duals begin at 2 p.m. with Moses Lake taking on Rogers, Mead facing Auburn, and Lake Stevens challenging South Kitsap.

After the duals, the Moses Lake wrestling program play host to the Japanese National Team, that is on a two-stop trip in the state following a visit to the Seattle-area.

Wrestlers from Moses Lake, Mead, and Lake Stevens will take on the Japanese team with the event set to begin at 6:30 p.m.

Highlighting the host squad is Mead's Jordan Rogers who was national champion in both freestyle and Greco.

From there, Rogers participated as a member of the U.S. Youth Olympic team for the in Singapore where he took second-place.

The Japanese team begin their visit tonight as Chiefs wrestlers and their families will host the athletes during their stay.
