BIKE LANES, Reader concerned about road rules
GUEST EDITORIAL
I don't know what person or persons thought of this idea. But I can guarantee you none of them know a thing about riding a bike on a street or highway. When you ride a bike on a street or highway, the same rules a motorist has to use applies to the person on the bike.
Now, how many of the kids in Moses Lake know this, let me guess: none. When you ride on Broadway, if you want to make a left hand or right hand turn, you can't make it from the bike lane, unless you cross street and use the light signal. or you make a hand signal that you're making a left or right hand turn and getting into the turn lane with the other motorists, that's the double striped line.
Now, I also know that most kid's have no idea what 30 or 40 miles an hour is like on a major street or highway. The first scares the hell out of you, if you're stupid, you're dead.
