MOSES LAKE — At least seven cars in downtown Moses Lake had their tires slashed in the past week.

Two of the vehicles, a 2006 Chrysler van and a 1998 Dodge van, belonged to the City of Moses Lake.

The vans were parked in the parking lot shared by Moses Lake police and the Parks and Recreation department on South Balsam Street.

The vans had one front tire slashed on each vehicle, according to police reports.

Moses Lake police believe the tire slashing occurred between Thursday and Monday.

Estimated damages is roughly $200 to replace the two tires, according to police reports.

The suspects have not been caught, according to Capt. Dave Ruffin.

The majority of the tire slashings were reported Thursday.

Three vehicles had two tires slashed from each car on West Third Avenue.

Two vehicles had two tires slashed from each car on East Fifth Avenue.

Several vehicles had tires slashed while parked on South Division Street.

All of the slashings were reported within a two-hour time frame on Thursday, according to police reports.

“It appears because of the time frame and the damages that the incidents might be related,” said Ruffin.

Police are investigating.

Anyone caught slashing tires may be charged with felony malicious mischief, said Ruffin.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call Moses Lake police at 509-764-3887.
