ACH teams sweep Reardan Tournament championships

REARDAN - Behind a strong first quarter run out the Almira/Coulee-Hartline Warriors basketball team captured the Reardan Holiday Tournament title with a 62-46 win on Thursday.

ACH (9-0) led 23-12 after eight minutes of play and held on from there.

"The kids did a nice job," ACH head coach Scott Isaak said. "They had a very great team effort,"

The Warriors were led by Thunder Wellhausen's 23 points and 10 rebounds while Brandon Boutain finished with 17 points and four assists.

Derek Isaak added 14 points for ACH's championship effort.

Riverside Christian 54

SOAP LAKE - A competitive first half wasn't enough to carry over after intermission as the host Soap Lake Eagles fell 54-34 to Riverside Christian on Thursday night.

The Eagles (2-5, 0-1) trailed 20-13 at halftime but were undone by a Riverside (3-1, 1-0) 17-10 third quarter of the teams' Central Washington South 2B league opener.

"It was a game of two halves," Soap Lake coach Bill Pierce said. "The second half they outrebounded us and shot better than we did."

David Coreas led Soap Lake with 17 points.

QUINCY boys 45

QUINCY - A chance to win in the waning seconds fell short for the Quincy Jackrabbits on Thursday.

Trailing by one late, two Quincy free throws missed their mark, and visiting Prosser would escape with a 50-45 Central Washington Athletic Conference win.

Quincy (3-5, 1-5) were led by Mario Martinez's 17 points.

The Jacks trailed 11-0 to start the game before rallying to be in a position to win.

REARDAN - After losing a 15-point halftime lead, the Lady Warriors of Almira/Coulee-Hartline dug deep to claim the Reardan Holiday Tournament title on Thursday night.

Seeing their edge trimmed to 39-37 heading into the fourth quarter, ACH (8-1) dug deep and clipped the hosts in a high scoring eight minutes to hold on for a 63-60 win.

Madeline Isaak led ACH with 25 points and Nikki Osborne added 23 points to help their squad escape with the victory.

Riverside Christian 57

SOAP LAKE Girls 14

SOAP LAKE - A slow start led to a tough finish for the Soap Lake Lady Eagles on Thursday.

Visiting Riverside Christian broke out to a 41-9 halftime lead and cruised to a 57-14 win over host Soap Lake (0-6, 0-1) in their league opener.

QUINCY girls 20

QUINCY - The CWAC leaders from Prosser came and left Quincy on Thursday night showing those in attendance why they indeed sit atop the league.

A 40-10 first half performance was plenty for Prosser (7-0, 6-0) who cruised to a 71-20 win over the host Lady Jacks.

Cassidee Davis led Quincy (2-7, 2-5) with nine points.
