MOSES LAKE - Mega Auto Sounds owner Nick Lutierrez says Moses Lake's growth is the reason he opened a new location at 2209 W. Broadway Ave.

Mega Auto Sounds' first day of business in Moses Lake was Saturday. The business is based out of the Tri-Cities and is part of a chain of stores, which includes Extreme Car Audio and Best for Less, he said.

"It's a growing city," Lutierrez commented. "It came to my attention we could do really good as a small business here. I see a lot of potential with this location."

He was eyeing Moses Lake or Wenatchee for another location and chose Moses Lake.

He plans to bring two employees to Moses Lake from his Tri-Cities location.

All of his workers are bilingual in English and Spanish.

The Moses Lake store offers auto accessories, audio sound systems, custom installation, wheels and window tinting.

The most popular sales items have been Pioneer stereos, rims, tires, chrome grills, "anything with chrome" and window tinting, he said.

"People ask a lot for window tinting here," Lutierrez said.

Window tinting blocks 98 percent of UV rays and 35 percent tinting is legal, he said.

Tinting greatly extends the life of a vehicle's interior.

"Business is great," he commented. "I'm really happy. The sales are great. We're really, really busy."

The store sold half a semi truck load of rims and tires in Moses Lake on opening day.

That day, a team of 10 employees worked in the store, with three employees handling sales.

"We ended up bringing in a taco truck so they could feed us," Lutierrez said.

His business goals are to take care of customers.

"Customers are number one," he commented.

He also wants to expand into a larger location in Moses Lake.

"I love Moses Lake for business," Lutierrez said. "It's a really good place for business."

He estimated 80 percent of his Moses Lake customers frequented his Tri-Cities locations.

They came from Moses Lake, Othello, Wenatchee and Quincy.

They are happy he's here and thankful they don't have to drive such a long distance.

This week, Miguel Sanchez, of Moses Lake, was inside the new store. He's been a customer of Lutierrez' for three years and bought a set of 22-inch rims on opening day.

Martha Narranjo, of Warden, said her brother and sister bought items from Lutierrez' Tri-Cities store. She was looking for a stereo and rims for a new vehicle.

The store's hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.,  Monday through Sunday.
