Stanley N. Phelps, 62, longtime Moses Lake resident passed away Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011 at home.

Stanley N. Phelps, 62, longtime Moses Lake resident passed away Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011 at home. Memorial services will be held at 2:15 p.m., Monday, Feb. 28, 2011 at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, Washington. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel & Crematory. Stanley was born in Ellensburg, Washington on March 16, 1948, son of the late Frank W. and Jean M. (Smith) Phelps, Sr. He was raised and educated in Ellensburg. He then went to University of Washington graduating with his AA Degree in Business Administration. Stanley served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 6 years stationed at Kodiak, Alaska, (where he loved to fish) and received his The First Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He also served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years during the Vietnam era where he was a 1st Engineer of the flight crew of a C141A.

He was married to Sharon Hogan at The Little Church in the Woods in Roy, Washington on Nov. 6, 1982. The family resided in Tacoma, Washington and later moved to Moses Lake. Stanley and Sharon sealed their vows in 1987. He was a flight engineer for Alaska Airlines and had also worked for Spencer Aircraft. He later worked for Boeing as an A & P mechanic, before poor health forced him to retire.

Stanley enjoyed riding horses and had participated in rodeos, receiving best bare back rider in 1966. He and Sharon also enjoyed traveling. Stanley's greatest love was spending time with family.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Phelps, Moses Lake; 2 sons, Ryan Phelps, Moses Lake and Adam & Tiffany Phelps, Moses Lake; 1 daughter, Shonn & R.J. Phelps, Cle Elum; 7 grandchildren, Jenica, Janessa, Julia, Joscelyn, Shaylee, Victoria and Jayden; 2 sisters Mary Whipple and Marilyn; 2 brothers Frank Phelps, Jr. and Scott Phelps.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and he will be dearly missed now that he is home with Our Lord and Savior.
