I-90 U-turn causes rollover
GEORGE — A driver making an illegal U-turn on Interstate 90 caused
the car behind it to rollover, injuring five people, on Sunday
afternoon.
Darcie O. Hupper, 49, Billings, Mont., was eastbound on Interstate
90 when she reportedly slowed the 2005 Ford Crossover she was
driving to make an illegal U-turn, 10 miles west of George,
according to Washington State Patrol on Monday.
The 2001 Subaru Forester behind Hupper allegedly swerved to avoid
hitting her and rolled into the highway median, according to state
patrol.
The Subaru was driven Sandra Jimenez, 38, Spokane.
Jimenez was transporting four children, ages 9, 12, 14 and 16.
A
12-year-old boy was ejected from the Subaru during the crash,
according to state patrol.
None of the children was wearing seat belts, according to state
patrol.
All of the occupants in the Subaru were transported to Samaritan
Hospital for reported head and neck injuries.
The driver making the illegal U-turn did not suffer any
injuries.
State patrol suggest charging Hupper for negligent driving and
Jimenez for not using child restraints and having no insurance.
