Gene peacefully passed from this life and entered into the arms of

his Lord Jesus on Friday, February 18, 2011. He was 75 years old

and a lifelong resident of this area, being born to pioneer

families.

Gene was born September 15, 1935 to John C. and Lydia (Oster)

Schell at his grandmother Katherine Schell’s home at Ruff,

Washington. He was raised and farmed dry land wheat at Ruff until

ill health and diabetes necessitated he and his mother move to

Moses Lake in 1979.

He

enjoyed reading his bible, going to church, fishing and walking the

ocean beaches looking for hours at the waves rolling in and

out.

Gene was baptized in 1999 at Lakeview Missionary Church where he

was a member for the past thirteen years. He loved his church

family.

The past five years Gene resided at Lakeview Home Health Care and a

special thank you to Ed and Penny Weber and all their staff who

were so kind and caring. Another thank you to Mary Lou and all the

staff of Moses Lake Dialysis center who were so kind and patient

for the past two years.

Gene is survived by his sister Carolyn and brother-in-law Martin

Todorovich of Moses Lake and a special lifelong friend that he

attended Marlin School with, Stephen Roberts of Lynden, Washington.

He was preceded in death by his father John in 1959 and his mother

Lydia in 1998. His grandparents Jacob and Magdalena Oster and

Katherine and Fred Schell, all homesteaders of the Ruff area.

A

graveside service will be held in Odessa, Washington on Wednesday,

February 23, 2011 at 10:30 AM. Pastor Matt Baughman of Lakeview

Missionary Church will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers,

the family asks that any donations be made to the Moses Lake-Grant

County Humane Society at 6725 Randolph Road, Moses Lake, WA 98837.

I

will miss you, Gene, and love you forever as my brother, friend,

confident and sibling playmate. I’m proud that you were such a

special man in my life.
