ROADS 4 AND L
We are again saddened at the unnecessary death of yet another child. This totals two in the past 18 months. Witnessing the first accident of the beautiful 4-year-old girl was a traumatic experience, at this same intersection.
Both drivers were heading east on Road 4, crossing over an extremely busy Road L. We feel that the lives of these two young people might have been spared, if drivers new to this area, could have seen a visual sign larger than the warning posted warning of a dangerous intersection. How many more lives must be sacrificed here before we can get this sign up?
The ditch burm on either side of Road 4, along with the stop sign, which is four feet further south than the warning sign are factors in the peripheral view. We need the ditch burm for irrigation. The cost of an extra large warning sign warning of a dangerous intersection is nothing compared to the lives of these two children sacrificed needlessly. We appeal to the City of Moses Lake and the Transportation Department to get this sign up as soon as possible and to do a survey of the stop sign on the corner of Roads 4 and L, the location is out of the peripheral view of motorists and must be brought in 3 to 4 feet to see this stop sign. Moses Lake has expanded their city limits which have included the area to the south of Road 4 and the traffic is heavier than it has ever been. Please take care of this problem as soon as possible. We remain concerned citizens of Moses Lake.
