Last night, the Lady Lions defeated Wilson Creek 72-16, moving one step forward toward the district's sole bid to the regional tournament at Eastmont High School on Feb. 25.

Now they will play the winner of Wilson Creek/Cascade Christian's Thursday match up, the next night for the title.

The Lady Lions would have to be beaten twice in order not to advance.

The Academy (19-3) led 51-8 at halftime and were led by Madison Yamane's 17 points, Kristina Firouzi's 15 points and Rachel Verhage's 14 points.

Tori Diamond led Wilson Creek (8-11) with 10 points.

"We did some damage tonight," Lady Lion Melissa Verhage said."

On Monday, the Lady Lions advanced to the contest with Wilson Creek via a 55-8 thrashing of Cascade Christian.

The Academy led 23-4 at halftime and blew the game open with a 24-0 third quarter. Yamane scored 15 points, Rachel Verhage added 11 points, and Melissa Verhage pitched in with nine points.

McPartland's troops outrebounded Cascade Christian 50-32 and forced 30 turnovers.
