Ileen Butterfield

Ileen Butterfield, 88, Moses Lake resident passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011 at Summer Wood Special Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011 at the Grape Drive Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with Bishop Keith Coulson conducting. Viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m, Friday, Feb. 18th at Kayser's Chapel and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church on Saturday, Feb 19th. Interment will follow at Guarding Angels Cemetery, 2595 Road L N.E., Moses Lake. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel & Crematory. Ileen was born on Feb. 9, 1923 in Waddington, New York, daughter of the late William Harrison and Hazel Bell (Whitton) Shutler. At an early age the family moved to Hammond, New York where she attended school and graduated from Hammond High School in 1941. She attended A. Barton Hospital at Ogdensburg, New York School of Nursing from 1942 to 1945 and graduated as a Registered Nurse. She moved to Lake Forrest, Illinois where she worked at the Lake Forrest Hospital. Ileen met and later married Glen Orson Butterfield on Aug. 29, 1947 at Libertyville, Illinois. They moved to make their first home in Seattle, Washington where Glen worked for the Boeing Aircraft Company. Ileen worked at various hospitals in Seattle and in 1955 they moved to Moses Lake. She worked as a registered nurse at Samaritan Hospital off and on for a total of 18 years. In 1972 she moved to Renton, Washington where she worked at Valley General Hospital for 8 years. Then in 1980 Ileen moved to Portland, Oregon where she worked at Emmanuel Hospital for 8 years before retiring in February of 1988. Besides her family, she loved to R.V., especially at Pacific City, Oregon at the Thousand Trails campsite. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Moses Lake 2nd Ward.

She is survived by 7 children, Michael & Carol Butterfield, Yakima, David & Connie Butterfield, Redding, CA, Charles & Toni Butterfield, Meridian, ID, Dennis & Janet Butterfield, Kuna, ID, Clark & Sonia Butterfield, Moses Lake, Susan & Darcy Price, Moses Lake and Larry & Pat Butterfield, Moses Lake; 35 grandchildren and 53 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Glen in 1965, 4 brothers, Arnold, Donald, Ivan and Loren and 2 sisters, Mary and Barbara.
