YAKIMA - Sure the Ephrata Lady Tigers had ensured themselves a
spot in next weekend's regional tournament, but it didn't mean it

YAKIMA - Sure the Ephrata Lady Tigers had ensured themselves a spot in next weekend's regional tournament, but it didn't mean it wished to stop winning.
However, the Lady Tigers dropped both of their Central Washington Athletic Conference (CWAC) district tournament contests this weekend at West Valley High School to wrap the fourth-seed out of the qualifiers.
On Saturday, Ephrata (13-10) held a 40-36 lead going into the fourth quarter before East Valley rallied behind an 18-point spurt over the final eight minutes to hold on for a 54-48 win.
Kelsey Yenney led the Lady Tigers with 16 points while Abby Smith added nine points.
Prior to the East Valley encounter, the Lady Tigers fell 55-41 against the top-ranked Prosser Mustangs in the semifinals on Friday night.
Prosser couldn't shake Ephrata after two easy wins in the regular season, leading only 20-17 at halftime.
But a 19-6 explosion in the third quarter gave the Mustangs the breathing room they needed.
Yenney scored nine points to lead Ephrata in the loss.
