Top-ranked Warriors start post-season with rout of Selkirk

began the 2011 post season in the District 7 playoffs on Wednesday

night.

Behind 28 points from junior guard Derek Isaak the Warriors (21-0) pulled away for an easy 74-30 first round win over Selkirk to advance to Saturday's semifinal against fifth-ranked Cusick.

ACH will try to make it two wins this season against Cusick when they tip off at 7:30 p.m. at Deer Park High School.

Against Selkirk (7-15), ACH led 46-13 by halftime and cooled their jets to cruise to the win.

"The kids played hard and they dismissed a team," ACH head coach Scott Isaak said. "They worked hard and shot it well so what more do you want."

The Warriors showed no signs of nerves coming into the post season as Class 1B's top-ranked team.

"They are pretty focused and view every game as 0-0," Scott Isaak said. "Yesterday's wins don't pay today's bills. It's one game at a time."

The team has used last year's last second state quarterfinal loss to eventual champions Sunnyside Christian - a game in which ACH led by as many as 19 points - as motivation.

"With that loss against SC at the buzzer, we want another crack," Scott Isaak said. "The team is a little older and appear very hungry. We are just feeding the wolf."

Helping out in the win against Selkirk were Cody Jess (14 points) and Thunder Wellhausen (10 points).
