MOSES LAKE - From nighties to massage oils, to shoes and body jewelry, Hidden Pleasures is there to help couples.

"That's what we're here for, to spark romance," said one of the store's owners, Debra Laffranchi, a married mother of four children.

The business is for adults 18 and older.

She owns the business with her husband, Matthew Laffranchi.

The operation started as an in-home business three years ago after she attended a Passion home party featuring adult toys.

"So we went, we had fun and then I realized, the prices were not exactly what women want to pay," she commented.

She wondered if she could offer similar products for cheaper prices.

"My husband and myself started Hidden Pleasures with home parties," Debra recalled. "It just sort of spiraled from there."

She called the business "our baby," as it is just growing and beginning.

When they were selling products at home parties, "it got very big very quickly," Debra explained.

"I was truly amazed, actually," she said. "I thought about having more people working for us."

The couple decided to start a store.

She enjoys having a store much better than hosting the home parties because customers do not feel like they have to support her like partygoers do. Party guests are typically made up of friends, family and other acquaintances.

"They feel obligated to participate, especially since they have the hostess bonuses," Debra says. "I don't like that high-pressure sales. With this they can come in and look. I like that better."

One of her biggest sellers is a "message rose" with messages printed on each petal.

"If your significant other doesn't know what to do, peel down a petal and it will tell you," she said. The petals have messages like "rub the shoulders" and "rub the foot."

"It helps to spark romance," Debra said.

The business grew because she doesn't pressure customers. She simply answers questions and lets customers be.

"If you don't learn about your product and someone asks, if you don't know, they won't come back," she commented. "We want you to be happy with what you leave with."

If an outfit isn't flattering, Debra is happy to help customers find something that it.

"Every woman wants to look sexy," she said.
