ENTIAT - Needing to make their road to the district playoffs a little easier, the Warden Cougars grabbed opportunity by the hand and held on.

The Cougars defeated Entiat 51-39 on Tuesday night to avoid a playoff tiebreaking with their hosts on Saturday for the fourth seed out of the Central Washington South 2B league.

Instead, Warden (8-12, 6-6) earned that slot and will play against Class 2B powers Lake Roosevelt on Monday in the tournament opener.

"It was a sloppy game but we were able to play in a hostile gym," Warden head coach Wes Richins said. "They were playing for their life and we were able to hold them off."

Victor Flores scored 16 points for Warden while Trent Bates added nine points for the Cougars.

"We're 0-0 and able to starting a while new season now," Richins said.
