Big Bend hosts financial aid and scholarship event

| February 9, 2011 5:00 AM

MOSES LAKE - Want to learn about federal financial aid for college?

Big Bend Community College is hosting College Goal Sunday this weekend as part of a state-wide effort to help students pay for college.

"We have had a great turnout in the past years we have had this event and we want to continue to help as many students as we can," says Rita Delgado, financial aid advisor at BBCC. "Many students do not know where to find the money to pay for school and this is a great opportunity for them to ask questions and get the information they need in order to go to college."

Students and parents are invited to attend the event aimed at helping students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students will need to provide financial records such as tax forms and recent pay stubs to fill out the application. Families are still encouraged to attend and begin the process even if they do not have all their paperwork.

As part of College Goal Sunday, students who attend and register on www.theWashBoard.org, a free, scholarship clearing house for students, will be eligible to win a scholarship from the Northwest Education Loan Association Center for Student Success.

The event is set for Sunday in the ATEC Building at BBCC, 7662 Chanute St., from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

The event is free to the public.
