Quincy school bus strikes car

QUINCY - A Quincy bus driver struck a car while she was making a left turn Tuesday morning.

Bonnie L. Patty, 58, Quincy, was transporting about 15 middle school students for the Quincy School District heading westbound on state Route 28 when she struck a 1997 Ford Taurus traveling in the same direction, according to Washington State Patrol.

The 16-year-old female driver of the Ford Taurus was in the left turn lane, near 13th Avenue Northwest, but the bus driver said she was unable to see the vehicle, according to state patrol.

The bus sustained around $700 worth of damages and the Ford Taurus sustained $4,000 worth of damages, according to the state patrol.

Both vehicles were driven from the scene.

No one was hurt in the collision, according to state patrol.

All drivers were wearing seat belts.

State patrol suggest charging the 16-year-old driver with instruction permit violations.

Charges are still pending for the bus driver.
