Born on November 11, 1923 in Denver, Colorado Jackie spent her early years growing up in Manhattan, Kansas. Her family was forced to move west because of the depression and the dust bowl. She graduated from high school in Bremerton. She worked in a bank as a teenager to help pay for an education from which she graduated from the University of Washington.

In the years that followed, she worked for accounting firms, as the head of Non Appropriated Funds at Larson Air Force Base, and as a partner in a lumber yard.

On March 15, 1952, she married 2nd Lieutenant Robert Hardin at the Larson Air Force Base chapel. Her husband, a Moses Lake man, had been recalled to the Air Force during the Korean War.

At the time when the Columbia Irrigation Project was first receiving irrigation water she supported and helped her husband develop their farm. For over 50 years she devoted her intelligence, accounting skills, and her hard work to helping her husband on this farm. It was on the farm she departed this earth.

She enjoyed playing bridge, golf and travel. Most trips were taken in the winter so not to detract from farming. Often they traveled to places with sunshine, and to other places in Asia and Europe.

In her sickness, she and her husband were supported and helped by some dear friends and neighbors.

As a teenager she joined the Episcopal Church in Bremerton. Later she and her husband joined the Moses Lake United Methodist Church. They have enjoyed the love and support of this church family.

Jackie is survived by her husband of 58 years, three nephews, and three nieces.

She was loving, intelligent and loved her work. Her legacy is in the land, in the community and the hearts of her husband, relative, and friends.
