Chiefs swim, dive win heading into districts

School Chiefs swim and dive team, put a wrap on a 6-2 campaign with

a 131-52 win at West Valley High School on Friday.

YAKIMA - Winding down the regular season, the Moses Lake High School Chiefs swim and dive team, put a wrap on a 6-2 campaign with a 131-52 win at West Valley High School on Friday.

"We swam most of the team in different events than they are used to just change things up and they came through in a big way," Moses Lake head coach Tony St. Onge said. "We are pulling this team together at the right time of the season and we plan to keep our efforts aimed at the district championships."

Moses Lake, which finished second in the Big 9, will compete at the district tournament this weekend.

Diver Braxton Ford continued his season-long run of excellence by winning with a score 210.95. Ford own both school records for the 6 and 11-meter dives.

The Chiefs also won 10 swimming events against West Valley.

Parker Merkley (50-yard freestyle, 25:36, and 100-yard freestyle, 55:07), Daniel Noteboom (200-yard freestyle, 2:06. 12), Evan McFarland (100-yard individual medley, 2:19.62), Kaelen Connacher (100-yard breaststoke, 1:13.85), Corey Bradshaw (100-yard butterfly, 1:04.07), and Reid Jackson (500-yard freestyle, 5:35.61), were individual winners for the Chiefs.

The 200-yard medley relay team (Connacher, McFarland, Merkley, and Damian Cacchiotti, 1:54.30), 200-yard freestyle relay team (Bradshaw, Skyler Galloway, Cacchiotti, and McFarland, 1:42.73), and the 400-yard freestyle relay team (Merkley, Noteboom, Bradshaw, and Connacher, 3:44.46), also picked up wins for Moses Lake on Friday.
