Moses Lake enjoys new Park Orchard Elementary School

MOSES LAKE - Park Orchard Elementary School hosted contractors, members of the community and staff from across the school district during its grand opening ceremony in September.

"It is a great honor to be opening this beautiful facility," said Moses Lake Superintendent Michelle Price. "As our school district has grown, the commitment by our community to provide our children with learning space that is not only beautiful but provides for opportunities to access technology has been phenomenal. Thank you citizens of Moses Lake and to the school board for recognizing the need and supporting the construction. This is your school."

Representatives of the companies that built the school attended, including people from NAC Architecture, TWClark and Heery International.

Community members in attendance thought the facility was beautiful, said Price.

"They loved the interior hallways and just some of the features of some of the spaces, where it's just a really warm learning environment," she said.

Price thanked the community for the support.

"We are still growing and hopefully we'll continue to have facilities that meet our needs into the future. Thanks to the parents and the kids for getting off to a great start of the school year," she said.

Park Orchard Principal Erik Johnson was pleased with the public support.

"It was a great time to celebrate the successes of the community," said Johnson. "To open a brand new school is great."

He said it was fun for the representatives of the companies that worked on the school project to see their work come to fruition.

"We really appreciate the community support and look forward to a great year," he said.
