Charlene Hinman Baker

Charlene Hinman Baker passed away peacefully at home on December 23, 2011.  She was born October 21, 1917 in Cardston, Alberta, Canada to Charles White Hinman and Eliza Hartley Hinman.

Charlene married Arlo E. Hansen September 26, 1939 and they were later divorced.  She married Thurn J. Baker in the Salt Lake Temple, December 17, 1979.

She received a Bachelor's degree in Education from Central Washington University and taught school in Moses Lake, Washington.  She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings including a Temple Worker in the Seattle Washington Temple, the Provo Utah Temple and Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple.

She had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and demonstrated her commitment to the Savior by her love and quiet service to many.  Her greatest joy was serving four missions, Los Angeles Temple Visitor Center, England London North, Washington DC North and Salt Lake Family History Mission working on the Ellis Island project.

She is survived by her six children and six stepchildren:  Arlo E. (Verlene) Hansen, Glenwood, Alberta, Canada, Arlene (Tom) Helton, Springville, UT, Nola Jane (Joseph) Morton, Houston, TX, Glorya (Bill) Seal, Sherwood, OR, Camille (Gerald) Thompson, Estacada OR, C. Rex (Pam) Hansen, West Bountiful, UT, Claire Hess of Orem, UT, Hugh (Lila) Baker, Moses Lake, WA, Garth (Katrina) Baker, Moses Lake, WA, Leon (Lorraine) Baker, Moses Lake, WA, Elizabeth Fielding, Orem, UT, and Reid (Lori) Baker, Moses Lake, WA; Charlene and Thurn has sixty-nine grandchildren, one hundred thirteen great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Ken Forsyth, Bluffdale, UT and sister Marilyn Hyer, Lake Isabella, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Lyman Hartley Hinman and Junior Hartley Hinman and sister June Forsyth and brother-in-law Wallace Hyer.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., in the Nelson Road Chapel, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1849 East Nelson Road, Moses Lake, Washington.  Viewing will be from 10 - 10:45 a.m. Burial will immediately follow in Pioneer Memorial Gardens, Moses Lake, Washington.
