EPHRATA - A Moses Lake man faces between five to 10 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of delivering methamphetamine.

A Grant County jury found Ignacio Cobos, 46, guilty of delivery of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and voyeurism, after deliberating for two hours, according to court records. They acquitted him of a charge of rape in the third degree.

Cobos' prior criminal history includes five violations of the controlled substances act, attempting to elude police, witness tampering, unlawful possession of a firearm, malicious mischief in the second degree and burglary in the first degree, according to the prosecutor's office.

"This is a serious conviction and the defendant has a serious criminal history," Prosecutor Angus Lee stated. "In keeping with our commitment to seek serious sentences for serious offenders we will be seeking the maximum sentence allowed by law in this case."

The victim was at a Cascade Valley residence and was sending text messages to Cobos, who agreed to give her a ride home, according to a Moses Lake police report. When the two left, Cobos started driving to his apartment, and yelled at her for spending time with her friends and accused her of having sex with other men.

When she asked Cobos where they were going, he told her he was taking her to dinner and to his place. She told him she wanted to go home, but Cobos stopped for food, and brought her to his apartment.

When they arrived, he continued yelling at her, forcing her to make his bed, according to the police report. After she was finished, they were sitting on the bed and he grabbed her hair and wrist and threw her to the floor. When she told him it hurt, he became apologetic and smoked meth with her.

Cobos started yelling at her again. After she asked to go home, Cobos ordered her to take her clothes off, threatening to kill her, according to the police report. He was accused of raping her after she complied.

A video tape Cobos took of the incident showed she pushed him away when he made advances on her, according to the police report. Cobos told officers the victim was unaware of the tape.

When Cobos was taking the victim home, a Moses Lake police officer stopped the car for driving without its headlights on at night, according to the police report. After the officer spoke to the victim, she told the officer about the alleged rape.

The victim told officers she had been trading Cobos sex for meth for about six months, according to the police report. She stated Cobos thought they were in a relationship.

Police found 0.9 grams of meth in the apartment, along with other paraphernalia, according to the police report.

Cobos admitted to having sex, but told officers it was consensual, offering to let police see the video he made of the incident.
