WENATCHEE - Bryce Perez scored 15 points, and Cliff Phillips added 12 to lead the Chiefs to a 52-45 victory over 3A Eastmont at the Town Toyota Center Wednesday.

"This was a great win for us," coach John Hohman said. "That's two-in-a-row and gets us back on track."

Moses Lake got off to a quick start as Perez scored 10 points to give the Chiefs a 17-8 first-quarter lead.

Moses Lake, shooting 50 percent from the floor, pushed the score to 27-17 at the half. The Wildcats scratched their way back into contention, out scoring the Chiefs 28-25 in the second half of play, but it wasn't enough to pull out the win.

"We started out well, but they put the pressure on us and we held our own until the end." Hohman said. "We have a resilient group of kids who are really deserving of this win."

The one blemish on the team was the Wildcats unstoppable play guard Trea Thomas who rang up 35 points against the Chiefs.

"That kid is something else," Hohman said. "He's well coached and one of the top guards in the 3A and 4A."

Moses Lake is back in action when they host Ferris High School Dec. 29, then travel to Post Falls Jan. 3.

"They are the last two non league opponents we'll face and they are really really tough," Hohman said. "Ferris just beat previously unbeaten University High School, and Post Falls is undefeated."

The Chiefs get back to league action Jan. 6 when they host Eisenhower at 7:30 p.m.

"We're 1-1 in the league standing and I feel really good about that," Hohman said. "We're moving forward and getting ready for the 10 game stretch (of league games) to finish out the season strong and get ready for the playoffs."
