MOSES LAKE - A suspicious package found on the front porch of a Moses Lake residence over the weekend did not contain explosives.

Moses Lake Police responded to a home near Peninsula Elementary School Saturday after receiving a report from a resident saying there was no reason the package should have been there, according to Capt. Dave Ruffin.

"Officers talked to the (responding party) and looked at the package," Ruffin said. "Based on the circumstances, nothing else, they decided to call Richland bomb squad in to investigate."

The Moses Lake Police Department utilizes the services of the Richland bomb squad on cases where explosives may be involved.

After examining the item the bomb squad used a high pressure water cannon to neutralize any potential explosive threat, Ruffin said. No explosives or related materials were found inside the package, which contained some plastic packing tubes, he added.
