MLCA girls show no mercy in win over Easton

MOSES LAKE - McKenna Walker had a quadruple-double with 36 points, 16 steals, 14 rebounds and 12 assists to lead the Moses Lake Christian Academy (MLCA) girls to a 94-6 shellacking over visiting Easton Friday.

The win improves the Lions to 1-0 in league play and 4-0 overall.

"The game kind of got away from us and I am not entirely enthusiastic about it," coach Bryce McPartland said. "We ran our standard full-court press in the first three minutes, then played half court defense the rest of the way."

The Lions jumped out to a 12-0 early lead. Easton had several scoring opportunities, but couldn't convert and the Jaguars found them selves down 32-0 at the end of the first eight minutes of action.

MCLA picked up where the team left off in the second quarter with stingy defense and dominating the offensive backboard for second chance opportunities to take a 50-0 lead. Easton finally managed a bucket and two free throws as the half came to an end with the Jaguars down 50-4.

The second half got completely out of hand for the Easton as the Lions reeled off the first 12 points of the third quarter and never looked back. The score at the end of the third quarter had MLCA comfortably out front, 75-4.

The Lions never took their foot off the pedal despite a 71 point led going into the final eight minutes as the team hung another 23 points on an obviously inferior Jaguar squad.

"We were up big in the third quarter and I lost track of the score early in the fourth," McPartland said. "Both teams were short-handed as Easton only had five players and we had six."

Anna Yarbro finished with 28 points and 13 boards and Abby Garrett added 14 points to help lead the offensive attack for the Lions.

MLCA was back in action Saturday as the team traveled to Sunnyside Christian, but the results of the game were not available at press time.
