MOSES LAKE - Michael Northrup had 21 points and Eric Curtiss added 16 to lead the Columbia Basin Secondary School (CBSS) over Wilson Creek 57-27.

The win on the Phoenix home court Tuesday gives CBSS a 1-0 record in league play.

"We jumped out to a 26 to 2 lead in the first quarter

before coasting to 30 point victory," coach Rolland Hansen said. "Wilson Creek has a young and inexperienced team but they played hard and fought until the end."

The Devils came out strong in the second quarter of action, outscoring CBSS 11-8 to close the gap to 34-19 at the half.

But a quick 15-4 Phoenix spurt out of the gate in the third quarter blew the game wide open for the home team as Wilson Creek trailed 49-23.

The large disparity in the score heading into the fourth quarter saw liberal substitutions by Hansen to get some of the reserves game time experience.

"My boys played hard and stayed focused on running their offense and improving on defense," Hansen said. "That allowed everyone got plenty of playing time."
