SOAP LAKE - Junior guard Jason Korneychuk knocked down 21 points to lead the Soap Lake Eagles to a 50-46 league win over visiting Bridgeport Thursday.

"I was happy to get the win," coach Bill Pierce said. "But we didn't play as good as we could have and had more opportunities than we took advantage of."

The Mustangs got out to a 12-10 lead in the first quarter of play led by two 3-point baskets by Cameron Cavadini. But the Eagles Joshua Decker hit back-to-back buckets to put Soap Lake up 14-12 at the end of the first eight minutes of action.

The teams traded buckets and leads several times in the second quarter, but Soap Lake managed to take a 27-24 score into intermission.

Bridgeport out scored the Eagles 10-7 to take 36-34 lead at the end of the third quarter, but the Eagles came back with 16 points to the Mustangs 10 in the fourth to win the game.

"We didn't shoot very well in the third quarter," Pierce said. "But we played better in the fourth quarter and were able to pull it out."

Anthony King added nine points for Soap Lake, and Jordan Korolak and Alex Coreas finished with seven points each to aid in the victory.

Soap Lake is back on the hardwood Friday and Saturday when they host  Waterville and Wilson Creek.
