MOSES LAKE - Fitting in a haircut after work is made easier at the new Moses Lake Great Clips at Penn Plaza.

The family walk-in salon along North Stratford Road offers an online check-in.

It can be done at a home computer or with a smartphone.

Visit www.greatclips.com and click on "find location" to check in at the Great Clips of your choice.

"You can do it before you leave work, if you're really tired and don't want to mess with waiting," said Brandy Lawellen, manager of the Moses Lake store. "It's a really neat addition."

She last worked at a Great Clips in Spokane, where online check-in was tested. The concept worked well and she believes it is used at all Great Clips locations, she recalled.

Lawellen moved to Moses Lake to accept the store manager promotion. She styles hair too.

"It is just a great company to work for," she said. "It's just more about the employees than the bottom line type of thing."

Great Clips offers haircuts, permanents and updos.

Business at the Moses Lake Great Clips has been going "really well" for the most part, she said.

"The community has been very welcoming," she said.

The store's mascot, "Sudz," has attracted plenty of attention. He is a large, costumed bottle of shampoo who stands on the sidewalk waving to customers.

"We try to have him out every day," she said. "He's big and something really fun for the kids."

The Moses Lake franchise owner is Peter Aronson, of Portland.

Lawellen said he wanted to branch out toward this area because there are no locations in Moses Lake. He owned 17 other salons, she said.

"We're about quality," she said. "It's our number one priority, making sure our customers are happy and they get exactly what they want. You want to make sure it's a good hair cut. We take the extra time to make sure it's right."

Eight stylists work at the Moses Lake Great Clips and there room to add more, she said.
