Joel "Jerry" McCornack, 82, of Moses Lake, WA died Thursday, December 1st at his home, peacefully and surrounded by his family.

Jerry was born June 9, 1929 to Fred and Erma McCornack in Springfield, OR. He graduated from Cottage Grove High School in 1947 and received his Bachelor of Theology from San Jose Bible College in 1951. From 1952 to 1954 he attended Lincoln Bible Institute in Lincoln, IL for a Master of Divinity program.

 While attending Lincoln Bible Institute in 1953, Jerry started his ministry as a Pastor at Beecher City Church of Christ. In 1956 he moved back to Oregon to preach at McKenzie Bridge Christian Church, staying for 5 years and meeting his soon-to-be wife, Greta Johanson. In 1961 he moved to Kent, WA to pastor the Lake Sawyer Church of Christ ministering to the church for 21 years. During this time he married his wife, Greta, and together they raised four children. Jerry made a career change in 1984; He was interested in travel and went to work for Alaska Airlines where he stayed until retirement in 1994. After retirement, Jerry and Greta moved to Ocean Park, WA where they made lasting friendships and were members of Peninsula Baptist Church. In 2006 they moved to Moses Lake to be close to their children and became members of the Moses Lake Christian Church.

Jerry is survived by his wife Greta McCornack of Moses Lake, WA and his four children; Scott McCornack, Moses Lake, Sharlyn Roberts, Moses lake, Wade McCornack, Oak Harbor, WA, and Dawn Woyke of Roslyn, WA. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Brendan McCornack, Jocelyn McCornack, Devon McCornack, Morgan McCornack, Jonathan Roberts, Joshua Roberts, Noah Roberts, Benjamin McCornack, Patrick McCornack, Lauren Woyke, Beau Woyke, and Alec Woyke.

A memorial service will be held Saturday December 10th at 1:00 pm, Moses Lake Christian Church, 200 E. Yonezawa Blvd, Moses Lake, WA.
