| December 7, 2011 5:00 AM

Allison (Al) Brower, 80, passed from this life on November 30, 2011 in Ellensburg, Washington. Al was born September 26, 1931 in Seattle, WA to Allison C. and Marie (Kueckenberg) Brower.

He graduated from West Seattle High School and attended Pacific Lutheran University. Al served in the United States Air Force in the 29th Fighter Interceptors Squad and received a Korean Service Medal. After the service Al started a long career at Boeing and worked in engineering, R&D and on the Condor project in Moses Lake.

Al could accomplish anything he set his mind to do. After retirement Al and Mardine moved to Moses Lake but never embraced a "retired" life style. Together they farmed hay and cattle and had a commercial beef herd. They also had an agricultural research project in Moses Lake providing research for major chemical companies. Al continually embraced new technology including using the first rotary swather in Grant County, researched and implemented better cattle management techniques and was always tinkering with new computer technology.

Al continued to remain active serving on the Board of Directors of AgFarmation in Grant County and the Grant County Planning Commission, the Grant County Farm Bureau Board of Directors and was involved in the Grant County Republican Party and the Washington Cattleman's Association. Al was an active member of FiberActive and believed in Grant County's fiber project to help further fiber optics to the homes in Grant County.

Al and Mardine spent over 12 years enjoying their "second home" at Lake Chelan entertaining family and friends, relaxing, and producing delicious meals from the Bar B Que.

Al's second love was sailing and was involved in sailing races in the Puget Sound. Al also enjoyed building model sail boats in his spare time.

Al is survived by his wife of twenty-nine years, Mardine of Ellensburg; daughter Lynn, son George, and step-children, Deborah (Randy) Whitman, Jodie (Russ) Lightfoot, Paul Krakenberg and grandchildren Robin, Kyle, Justin and Alex. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will be held Friday, December 9, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Steward and Williams Tribute Center, Ellensburg, WA. A reception will be held at Hal Holmes Center in Ellensburg following the service. Interment will be December 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The American Cancer Society.
