Lions top Eagles

MOSES LAKE - The Moses Lake Christian Academy (MLCA) girls basketball team edged St. John-Endicott 46-41 on the Lions home court Friday.

MLCA out scored the Eagles 10-6 in the first period of action, but trailed 21-18 at the half.

The Lions turned the tide on St. John-Endicott in the second half of play, out scoring the visiting team 28-20 for the win.

"The game was a classic contest of size and experience against speed an youthful enthusiasm," coach Bryce McPartland said. "St. John-Endicott is a school with a tremendous amount of tradition and experience. Our team is very much up and coming."

McPartland said the game had a tremendous amount of ebb and flow to it, but the team worked to speed the game up and force a lot of turnovers.

"We were fairly successful in doing that. Their girls worked to use their size advantage inside and we found ourselves in foul trouble early," he said. "But we weather a second quarter storm and found ourselves on the other side of half-time with a tremendous amount of momentum. This was a great win for our program, and earned as much as any accomplishment our team has ever had."

McKenna Walker led the charge for the Lions with 21 points.  Madison Yamane added 11, Dani Sandberg pumped in six points, Mikaela Loudon had four and Taylor Yamane and Madison Tudor finished with two points each.

MLCA's game with Almira/Coulee-Hartline Tuesday has been rescheduled for Jan. 14.
