MOSES LAKE - The new Phones Plus store in Moses Lake wrapped up its first week of sales this week at the former Arctic Circle on South Pioneer Way.

One milestone was Black Friday. It was the Verizon Wireless exclusive retailer's first Friday in business.

The term means stores are profitable, or in the black, because of the big spending from pre-Christmas sales.

David Hernandez, the store's sales manager, said he was excited about opening before the holidays.

He was "100 percent confident in his team," he commented.

"It was worth it," he commented. "It's definitely been exciting and the beginning of a great adventure."

Stock ran out quickly on some items.

Overall, the first week of business "went great," he commented.

"It was definitely busy," he said. "A ton of people are excited to have us here in town."

Customers were asking Phones Plus employees the differences between the company and a competitor.

"People came in with smiles on their faces," Hernandez said. "They were happy there was someone local to deal with accounts and upgrades."

On Monday, at least 100 people visited the store.

"That's very good, it's been really busy," he commented. "It will be great if this continues, we will have the opportunity to bring another person on board."

On the store's first day of business, employees answered customers' questions about products and services because the store was so new to Moses Lake.

Phones Plus opened a store in Wenatchee one week before the Moses Lake store.
