Reader wants military history remembered

I am well aware that the president and several more people do not want the subject of freedom won by the military taught in school.

It has even reached the point that the Tri-City Herald misses very important battle anniversaries. Am I alone in remembering the D-Day invasion of Jun. 6, 1944?

Sometimes I get to talk with young people who don't know who Franklin Delano Roosevelt was or even what it means. I know I am getting older, but my kids from 53 to 41 years of age know where their freedom came from and how the present lack of leadership wants everyone to forget. No way! There are still a few old veterans around!

Thank you Tri-City Herald for the much-deserved article on three-time Purple Heart veteran Willis Brown.
