Reader concerned about involvement

In regards to the Nov 15th AP article “Community group claims dairy polluted water”, I would like to direct your and your readers attention to a Seattle Times article from 2004 titled “Farmers put up stink over stench”.

It can be accessed at: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2001973661_dairy07m.html

This Seattle Times article explains that [Commissioner] Cindy Carter had been leading a fight against her Royal City neighbor, Smith Bros. Farms, whose roots stem from western Washington.

The article states: “…Carter established the Royal Valley chapter of Community Association for the Restoration of the Environment and sued Smith Brothers.”, and mentioned that the case was handled by Western Environmental Law Center.

I encourage everyone to visit www.westernlaw.org and to Google “Community Association for the Restoration of the Environment” to learn what activities these groups participate in.

A self described limited government, property rights espousing Republican teaming up with some left leaning environmental groups. Hmm…. very strange bedfellows.

Is Cindy Carter a RINO (Republican in Name Only)? Does she not believe in property rights? I know that she has had complete disregard for mine in the past.  Is/was this an effort to penalize a western Washington entity because “they don’t belong here in Grant County”?

Carter also makes the statement “We just want to make them be good neighbors.”  Make??? I wish she had as much concern over other people’s plights as she seems to have over her own.

Interestingly enough, this AP article made no mention of Cindy Carter’s involvement in any of this. Maybe this isn’t the type of attention a Republican in a conservative county with mostly conservative constituents wants, especially when there is an ever increasing divide between the left and right of the political spectrum.

If you ask me, this story makes Cindy Carter look like a hypocrite.
