Lealon Younger

Lealon Eugene "Pete" Younger, 78, longtime Moses Lake resident passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 after a long battle with cancer. Lealon was born March 29, 1933 in Clinton, Oklahoma to Joseph and Laura (Sessions) Younger.

He grew up in the Yakima Valley and joined the U.S. Navy in 1952 and served until 1960, during which time he was stationed in Long Beach, California and Okinawa, Japan. Lealon lived a brief time in Montana before moving to Moses Lake, Washington in 1962 where he was employed by United Concrete Pipe. From 1993-2006, he volunteered at the Moses Lake food bank where he was known as "Pete the Breadman". He enjoyed his massive collection of Tonka toys, gardening, yard work and family.

He was preceded in death by his mother Laura Younger, father Joe Younger, sisters Ethel Carter, Gerry Rice and wife Mary Younger, daughter Jessie Sparks and son William Tapio.

He is survived by special friend and companion Lorraine, son Eugene Blair, son and daughter-in-law Joseph and Tina Younger, sons Bobby Giffen, and Leo Tapio, sister and brother-in-law Kathrine & Leo Wentz, brother and sister-in-law Jodi & Mabel Younger, brother Leo Younger and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many, many friends.

Pete will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, December 3, 2011 from 4 - 6 p.m. in the Moses Lake Senior Center at 608 East Third Ave., Moses Lake.

Burial will take place in the Washington State Veterans Cemetery, Medical Lake, WA.
