GEORGE - The Christmas music season will begin this weekend at the George Community Hall.

The highlight will come on Saturday, Dec. 3, when the Marlin Handbell Ringers give their annual Christmas Concert. It is part of the George Coffehouse concert series.

"This is a not-to-miss holiday concert," said George Community Hall director Debby Kooy. "We always look forward to their visit. They will present new music, along with some elegant old favorites."

The Marlin Handbell Ringers are the most popular show in the Coffehouse series. Seating is limited, and early arrival is recommended. Admission will be $3, and additional donations are suggested. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

The weekend will begin on Friday, Dec. 2, with the monthly First Friday Jam. Blue grass musicians from all over the region will gather at 7 p.m.

"This is not a performance, per se, but more of a get-together," Kooy said. "Rumor has it that a lot of the music will be seasonal Christmas carols."

Any musician, blue grass or not, of any skill level or age is invited to join in. The public is invited to enjoy free of charge.

"We share and learn new songs and improve our skills," Kooy said.
