Man jumps to his death at Dry Falls

COULEE CITY - Witnesses called 9-1-1 Saturday after a man was seen running then jumping a chain to fall down a cliff at Dry Falls.

The middle-aged man fell roughly 200 feet near the Dry Falls State Park Visitor Center near Coulee City, according to the Grant County Sheriff's Office.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The reason for the man to jump the chain barrier remains unknown and is under investigation by the sheriff's office.

Emergency service responders spent three hours recovering the body at 9:15 p.m.

The body is with the Grant County Coroner's Office.

His identity is being withheld until notification of his next of kin.
