MITIGATED DETERMINATION OF NON-SIGNIFICANCE

Grant County has issued a Mitigated Determination of Non-Significance (MDNS) under the State Environmental Policy Act Rules (WAC Chapter 197-11) for the following project: A Conditional Use Permit for a surface mine and mineral extraction operation for the purpose of removing diatomaceous earth on an approximately 106-acre site in the Agriculture zoning district of Grant County. The diatomaceous earth will be removed, screened, and stockpiled in order to be hauled off-site for processing. As the diatomaceous earth is removed, it will be replaced with clean fill materials. Topsoil will then be replaced, and each mined area re-vegetated. The estimated duration of this project is 8 years. The subject area is an approximately 106-acre portion of Parcel #15-0321-000. The site address of the subject area is 18537 Road 7 SW. It is located west of Beverly Burke Road approximately 6_ miles south of George, WA, near the intersection of Beverly Burke Road and Road 7 SW, and in the east half of Section 12, Township 17 North, and Range 23 East, WM, Grant County, WA.

After a review of a completed Environmental Checklist and other information on file with the Planning Department, Grant County has determined that this proposal does not have a probable significant adverse impact on the environment as conditioned.

Copies of the MDNS (File #11-5601) are available at no charge from the Grant County Planning Department, 457 1st Avenue NW, PO Box 37, Ephrata, WA 98823, (509)754-2011.
