Triploid fishing may end soon.

| August 24, 2011 1:00 PM

According to Dave Graybill, the FishingMagician, who provides the fishing reports for the region, there should be an announcement soon that the special season on triploid rainbow trout fishing below Chief Joseph Dam may end soon.

The special season, that opened to reduce triploid populations in the Columbia River from below the bridge at Bridgeport to the bridge at Brewster, was to remain open through the end of the month. The potentials for incidental hooking of steelhead is the reason for the early closure.

Anglers should look for an announcement on the Department of Fish and Wildlife site soon, but until then they should take advantage of the four-fish limit on these fish.
