Harris, Leahey big winners in lady golf

CRESCENT BAR - Laurie Leahey had a big day, and Jan Harris had an even bigger day at the Crescent Bar Golf Course Women's Competition on Aug. 9.

Harris was honored five times at the awards session. Leahey's name was called out four times.

Harris's honors started with a tie for low gross in division 1 with Mavis Bennett with scores of 99. She was also the low net winner with 63.

Harris was her division's closest-to-the-pin winner with an effort of three feet, 4.5 inches. She scored a birdie on hole No. 14 and won the game of the day - three blind mice - with 41.

In three blind mice, the worst three holes and handicap were deducted from the total gross score. Leahey tied for first in her division with Tressa Kleyn. Both had 49.

Leahey also won her division's low net with 74, tying Wendy Smith. She scored a birdie on No. 12 and chipped in on No. 12.

Smith had a second honor when she won the division 2 low net with 114. Wilma DeLeeuw was the division 1 long putt winner from 16-8, and Gloria Trevethan was the division 2 long putt winner from 9-0.

Roe Olsen chipped in on No. 15, and Linda Hayes did the same on No. 6.
