Two aces highlight Desert Aire golf
DESERT AIRE - Holes-in-one were in order last week at the Desert Aire Golf Course. Rich Rowe had one on Tuesday. Terry Holmes scored one on Wednesday.
Rowe's ace came during the annual Men's & Ladies' 2-day Scramble. He nailed it on the 178-yard third hole with a 5-wood.
Rowe's ball sailed directly at the flag. It hit the fringe at the high point in front of the green, bounced once and disappeared.
The shot was witnessed by Larry Maletta, Linda Weber and Jan Hansen.
Holmes accomplished his ace while playing in regular men's club competition on Sunday. He got it on the 168-yard hole No. 6 with a 5-iron.
Holmes's shot was similar to Rowe's. It flew directly at the flag, hit in front of the hole, bounced once and went in.
The shot was witnessed by Doug Jepson, Scott Harris and John Harrison.
It was Holmes's second life-time ace. He had one at Glenacres in Seattle 18 years ago.
