| August 20, 2011 3:00 AM

MOSES LAKE - Birds landing on distribution circuits are blamed for a Thursday morning power outage in Moses Lake lasting about 40 minutes.

About 7,170 homes were affected in Moses Lake, as the Moses Lake, Paxson Drive, Dover and Cascade Valley substations were impacted, according to Dorothy Harris, a district spokesperson.

Power was out at the Grant County Fairgrounds. The fair was not impacted and was open Thursday as planned, according to Harris.

The breaker was closed successfully at 8:34 a.m. and power was restored at 9 a.m. for most customers.
