Koon duo claim top Demo Derby spots
The 2011 KWIQ Demo Derby took place last night and once again brought out plenty of smashing action. Mike Koon (117) decided to take the liberty of plowing into Tim Koon (77) en route to the victory and the right to claim the $1,200 prize.
MOSES LAKE - At this particular party, everyone involved was a crasher.
That's because the Grant Country Fairgrounds Rodeo Arena was site last night to the 2011 KWIQ Demo Derby and as usual a boisterous crowd gathered to watch the best crashes anywhere around.
Taking the title of the Demo Derby was Mike Koon who took home the top prize of $1,200.
During the Demo Derby, action was halted when Doug Hastings was injured in a collision when his car was T-boned. He reported back pain and officials announced he was taken to Samaritan Hospital. Hasting's condition was not known at press time.
All money distribution were the same for all other, non-Demo Derby events with $60 going to winners, $40 for second place, and $20 for the third spot. Ties would ultimately divide up combined dollars for places contended for last night.

3rd place: Zach Dompier, $500.
4th place: Doug "DJ" Hastings, $300.
