Half acre burns in Moses Lake
Crews from Moses Lake Fire Department and Grant County Fire District 5 contained a small brush fire near South Division Street in Moses Lake Tuesday afternoon.

Grant County Fire District 5 responded to a half-acre fire in a
residential area of Moses Lake.
The fire started in a vacant field adjacent to South Division
Street near Ninth Avenue near several housing developments at
around 2:30 p.m., but crews brought it under control quickly.
MOSES LAKE - Fire crews from the Moses Lake Fire Department and Grant County Fire District 5 responded to a half-acre fire in a residential area of Moses Lake.
The fire started in a vacant field adjacent to South Division Street near Ninth Avenue near several housing developments at around 2:30 p.m., but crews brought it under control quickly.
No cause for the fire was immediately known.
Meanwhile, Fire District 5 responded to two large agricultural field burns Tuesday afternoon, one near roads M and 9 Northeast and the other at Road 3 and Road T Northeast.
"One guy was a little worried when the wind changed," said Fire District 5 Battalion Chief Rick Wentworth.
Both burns were conducted without incident, Wentworth said.
Adams County Fire District 5 officials said there were three planned wheat field burns near Othello throughout the day on Tuesday.
The state only allows a limited number of planned field burns per day in any given area, and none on days where there is inadequate air disbursement, according to Jani Gilbert with the Washington Department of Ecology.
"We only approve as many burns as the air shed can handle," Gilbert said.
