Candidates' comments
Election season is upon us with the primary ballots being mailed on Friday.
Soap Lake and Warden are paring down the number of candidates in the first election. More Columbia Basin cities will determine their leaders with the general election.
Campaigning is sparse. There are signs on public land and a few are making lunch rounds to speak to groups. But we would like to hear more about their intentions for office.
We would like to help facilitate communications between candidates and voters.
We offer room on the editorial pages every Thursday for candidates.
All candidates are welcome to submit guest editorials every week. The topic is your choice.
We will add a picture of the candidate, if they provide one. We will print them on a first come, first published basis.
This provides a candidate a chance to directly and clearly communicate with voters.
If you support a candidate, write us a letter and share your reasons for backing them in their election efforts. (See letter criteria at the bottom right corner of this page.)
City elections are just as important as county and state elections. Councilmembers and mayors determine what city services are and how much it will cost you.
It's time we discussed our future leaders to provide a better understanding of who we are going to vote into office.
