NAPA Kicker of the Year, AFL Pulse Announced

TULSA - The Arena Football League announced today that Georgia Force K CARLOS MARTINEZ (5-8, 175, Buena Vista) has been named 2011 NAPA Kicker of the Year.

Martinez has been extremely reliable for the Force this season. He booted over 100 extra points for the fifth time in his AFL career. He led the League in scoring per game (8.4) and extra point percentage (91.1). He was only one of three kickers to connect on over 10 field goals this season, finishing 11-of-18. Martinez made a 47-yard field goal, which was good for the second longest kick of the season.

Other kickers in contention for the NAPA Kicker of the Year included: Jacksonville Sharks K MARCO CAPOZZOLI; Cleveland Gladiators K MATT DENNY; Orlando Predators K MARK LEWIS; San Jose SaberCats K JUAN GAMBOA.

Meanwhile, DB KENNY MCENTYRE (5-10, 180, Kansas State) has received the 2011 Al Lucas AFL Pulse Award.

In his final season in the AFL, McEntyre devoted himself to both his team and the community.

His charity work has been a staple in the Orlando community, while also branching out to raise money for the Alabama Relief Fund and victims of similar hardships. After retirement, McEntyre pledged to give back to the community by focusing his charity work on children without parents. During his 12-year AFL career, McEntyre frequently worked with charities and helped communities develop and prosper.

The NFL Network will once again broadcast an AFL National Game of the Week for the entire regular and post season on Friday nights at 8:00 pm EST, culminating with the ArenaBowl Championship Game on August 12.
